Physics
Work and its Unit.
What is Work?
Work done in moving a body is equal to the product of force exerted on the
body and the distance moved by the body in the direction of force.
Example, thought that you push an object the object will move in straight line with only 1 speed, we will say that there is a work done. (socho tumne 1 car ko dhakka diya, vo car bilkul seedhe direction me move kari vo bhi 1 speed se...)
"Force aur displacement ka direction same hona chahiye tab work kaha jaeyga!"
What is Unit of Work?
W = F × D
Unit:
Force = Newton
Displacement = Meter
Work (SI) = Newton + Meter, it is Nm or Joule
Work (CGS) = dyne cm or erg.
1 Joule = 1 Nm = (10⁵ dyne) (100 cm)
= 10⁵ dyne 10² cm
= 10⁷ dyne cm
1 Joule = 10⁷ dyne cm
OR
1 Joule = 10⁷ erg
Work done against gravity
w = (m × g) (d)w = work
m = mass
g = acceleration due to gravity
d = height or h = height
W = mgh
Whenever work is done against gravity, the amount of work done is equal to the product of weight of the body and the vertical distance through which the body is lifted.
